The Art
Dolma Ku sung thuk: the combination of mind, body, and speech of Dolma or Tara.
The Tara body in this artwork is composed of miniature calligraphy containing the prayers of 21 names of Taras.
The Artist: Tibetan master calligrapher Jamyang Dorjee Chakrishar's unique artwork mirrors his genuine devotion to Dharma. Coined "Dharma Art" by the Tibetan Buddhist master Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Jamyang's work is a linguistic dance of Buddhist images and elements — encompassing the Buddha's body, spirit, and mind. Boldly experimenting with a variety of media and styles, his work is continually evolving. The startling beauty and detail in Jamyang's work originate from his truthful devotion to the teachings of Buddha and his love for the Tibetan language. His calligraphic depictions of Buddhist deities often serve as meditation tools, have been exhibited internationally, and are in private collections worldwide, including Richard Gere, Robert Thurman, Michael Imperioli, Chef Eric Ripert, and many others. Jamyang was born in Lhasa, Tibet. He currently divides his time between New York and Sikkim, India.
